The 2nd Quarter Final of our 3rd Year was hosted at The Old Comrades Club, Smethwick on Saturday 9th January 2010.

117 entrants braved the icy cold conditions to participate for a 1st prize worth at least £1000 cash. Chris Owen, representing the Host Venue, lifted the 1st prize after a gruelling heads-up with 3 x Duke Of York Champion, John Benton.



The management once again provided the players with a choice of hot food including a tasty curry and bangers and mash. Cold food in the form of a packaged lunchbox was also provided at the 1st break with some sweet snacks later on in the day.



Among the attendees hunting for that elusive Quarter Final win were the Masters Grand Final Champions, Dave Brawn (2009) and Oliver Jones (2008) and John Benton, the only player in MPL history so far to have received a trophy for winning at his local venue, the Duke Of York, three times in a row.
