At the 2010 Grand Final we received some positive feedback from players expressing that they would be happy to pay an extra £5 to have dealers at the Quarter Finals. We asked the players what they thought:
Option 1: Yes, pay an extra £5 at each Quarter Final making the Buy-In £15 – 50%
Option 2: No, do not pay an extra £5 for dealers - 50%
Our DecisionOur Yearly prize-pool currently stands at £13,000 split into 4 X Quarter Finals each worth £2000 and 1 Grand Final worth £5,000. This system seems to work just fine but recently we have had reports of players looking forward to seeing the Quarter Finals taken back to the pubs or simply lowering the Quarter Final prize-pools in favour of a larger Grand Final prize-pool.
A common question/comment we get is: "But can't we just have the £2000 Quarter Finals back in the pubs like the good old days?" No. This prize-pool would be illegal. The only way to host a Quarter Final in a pub today would be to lower the prize-pool to £100. Naturally if we did this the Grand Final prize-pool would bump up to a minimum of £12,000. We asked the players what they thought:
Option 1: £5000 Grand Final & 4 x £2000 Quarter Finals all held in Casinos - 80%
Option 2: £12,000 Grand Final (Casino) & 4 x £100 Quarter Finals held in pubs - 20%
Our DecisionWe have received some feedback requesting a branded card-protector instead of a trophies. Your votes were:
Option 1: Trophies all round - 60%
Option 2: Card Protectors all round - 30%
Option 3: Requested a choice of either (More costly at the expense of the prizepools) - 10%
